 David – Vocals, Lead Guitar

David is the founding member of Quest and the band’s musical director.  A Grade 8 Classical  Guitarist, David is also a classically trained pianist and has a versatile voice. He has gained a vast range of musical experience playing to audiences across the country’s leading venues, hotels, stately homes and nightspots. David started his musical career at an early age and at just 13 years, he was appearing at Birmingham’s ‘Night Out’ Club alongside stars such as Gloria Gaynor, performing to over 1,000 people.  At 14, David formed Catch 23 with his school friends.  The band went on to sign with Polydor Records and David was responsible for co-writing their independent single Love Explosion which sold over 2,000 copies.  Aged just 16, David was asked to join The Dream Factory who were by far the biggest unsigned band in the Midlands at that time and had an independent chart hit with ‘Wine and Roses’ which was critically acclaimed by Paul Weller and Elton John.  His guitar work with the Dream Factory was also praised by Julian Cope, former Teardop Explodes frontman.  Since then, David has played guitar in the band for the Stars in Your Eyes Roy Orbison tribute show and has appeared on radio and numerous recordings, including sessions for BBC’s ‘Vets in the Wild’.  He played guitar on the album ‘Psychobirds’ with acclaimed Jazz saxophonist ‘Joolz Gianni’ (aka Julian Smith from Britain’s Got Talent)  and  also recorded a version of ‘Almaz’ with Julian and Dina Carroll for Sony records (available from Amazon and Play.com).   He has appeared in numerous professional theatre productions including shows at The Belgrade Theatre, Coventry and Solihull’s Library Theatre and with several top Midlands based acts – Jeepster, Split Decision and Flyer. He has supported many stars including Bobby Davro, Stan Boardman, The Ivy League, The Bootleg Beatles e.t.c. and has appeared at the prestigious Ronnie Scotts in London and at Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham.  With Jeepster he played to over 4,000 people at the World Superbikes and again at the British Grand Prix at Castle Donnington in 1997.  Besides being an accomplished lead guitarist, David’s voice allows Quest to present the most raucous of today’s and yesterdays pop music. He is also currently putting the finishing touches to an album of original material including songs co-written with acclaimed female vocalist Susanna Westwood. He uses Gibson, Paul Reed Smith and Fender Guitars and Mesa Boogie Amplification.

Peter – Bass Guitar, Vocals

Peter trained on Classical Guitar but after completing grade 5 he moved to the Bass Guitar and he has stayed with this instrument since his teenage years, becoming an accomplished bassist. Peter has concentrated his efforts on playing original material over much of his playing career to date and his band Locarno received record label interest. He has played many named venues in London such as Cairo Jacks, The Garage and Sound Republic and has completed numerous recordings and studio sessions.  More recently Peter has played Bass with a highly acclaimed indie band which enabled him to achieve a lifetime ambition of performing at Glastonbury and has revisited some of London’s most prestigious live music venues.  Being brothers with close family ties, Peter and David had been looking for an opportunity to play together for many years and when Quest were looking for a new Bassist, Peter was the natural choice for Quest. Peter has a great appreciation and love of all music. He has many influences but his greatest influences of all are undoubtedly the Beach Boys, The Beatles and Black Sabbath – an eclectic mix!  Peter is a very melodic bassist and he cites the music of James Brown and the Motown bassist James Jameson as key influences on his playing style and of course Paul McCartney. Peter plays Fender Precision Bass and uses Ampeg Amplification.

Richard – Keyboards, Vocals

Richard has recently joined Quest to augment the line-up with live keyboards and additional backing vocals.  Richard is a classically trained pianist and has played the piano since his school days, having being introduced to music at home with his brothers David and Peter.  Richard’s musical career began in earnest in the mid 1990’s with popular 70’s covers band Jeepster.  Within a year of joining, Richard was performing to over 4,000 people at Castle Donnington.  After Jeepster, Richard joined rock covers band Men in Frocks – a band popular with the biking fraternity and covering artists such as Rage Against the Machine and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.  Richard has been a long time fan of soul music and his favourite artist is Stevie Wonder, so when he had the opportunity of joining a new band with some of the former members of Jeepster, he jumped at the chance to play some of his favourite tunes.  Richard went on to become the standout musician in Soul Academy, playing multi-layered keyboard parts with tremendous skill and accuracy.  Seeing Richard perform with Soul Academy, sowed the seeds which ultimately led to him joining Quest.  After several years working as a solo pianist delighting many brides and grooms with his tasteful background music, Richard was itching to get back working with a successful band.  For many years David, Peter and Richard had hoped to work together in a band, but not had the opportunity and the brothers are delighted that this aspiration has finally been realised.  Richard provides a different sonic dimension to Quest and has enabled the band to tackle more musically challenging songs.  He plays Korg, Kurzweil and Technics keyboards and uses Yamaha amplification.

Lars – Drums, Percussion, Vocals

Lars is an outstanding professional drummer equally at home playing rock, funk and fusion as well as Jazz, Pop and Indie music.  Lars is Quest’s most recent member, joining the band in December 2011.  He was born into a musical family and was destined to be a musician – his father is the acclaimed drummer Alan ‘Sticky’ Wickett who has played with Van Morrison, Steve Marriott, Chris Barber and Jools Holland.  Lars started playing drums at the tender age of 5 years and has been playing professionally since the age of 17 years, working his way up through a series of metal and punk bands and studio recordings.  With British Hip Hop group The Amonolies, Lars performed at the Electric Picnic festival in Dublin and the Two Thousand Trees festival.  After leaving The Anomalies, Lars worked on his jazz/funk group Cold Shot Trio alongside teaching and studio sessions.  In August 2008 he performed at the Institute Of Contemporary Music Performance in London and was awarded a higher diploma scholarship finalist certificate presented to him by Pete Havard (Mapex Drums/Paiste Cymbals UK Korg representive) and Justin Scott (Head of drums at the ICMP). Later on that month he formed Hard Rock band KINN with former Lunamile guitarist Tomm and Nikki, a singer that he had played with in classic rock band Stryder a few years back. KINN released their debut EP and since then have had the opening track “Want Me, Need Me” played on BBC 6 music Bruce Dickinson’s Friday rock show, Kerrang Radio Johnny Doom’s late licence and been live on BRMB Tim Shaw’s Rehab.   Lars plays Pearl drums and Paiste cymbals.
